Moment in time

A moment in time- Rollercoaster
This term we are learning to post Moments in time

In this photo I can see a little girl whose squinting her eyes, trying to look at what’s going on. She wears a light grey t-shirt. The girl has a ponytail and her hair is slicked back. She also looks like she’s between 5-8 years because it looks like her two front teeth have already fallen out. As the strong wind pulls her hair back, her light grey t-shirt looks like it’s being tossed around by the wind.

The trees sway side to side as the people at the back of her laugh and talk. She can hear the laughter that’s not quite loud but she also hears screaming in the background. Millions of people scream making it
impossible to even hear the slightest noise.

I bet she can smell all of that delicious food fragrance in the air as she’s about to fall down a big fall. Some butterflies jump around inside her stomach as she moves, tosses and turn on the rollercoaster. So many sudden turns and lots of screaming people.

The sun glares at her face while the sky stays a darkish blue colour. The tree leaves stay a bright green colour. They are also mixed with some dark green colours. Her mouth opens as she lets out a great, loud scream, joining in with the others who are also screaming.

My time at the Cordis Hotel

I was so happy, today was the day! On Monday our class, Room 1 got the privilege of going to a very fancy hotel. Of course I was excited because it was a hotel after all! I was interested to see what it looked like but we weren't just there to observe it. We went there to do some coding. It was a posh and elegant hotel, we even had our own little space with our very own laptops.

After a while of learning more people came and everything was busier than it originally was. Honestly I felt like I was famous because people began to interview us about the site Scratch. This was the site we used to code and it was such an amazing site to use. The game we made was a Ghostbusters game where we caught ghosts and maybe other things that could grant you more points.

Scratch is so cool isn’t it? Pictures were taken, Interviews started and lots of other things happened. Before we were going to leave this amazing Coding Club workshop some people got to show off their fantastic games and those people were... Melianna, Cleo (me) and Charlee. Melianna made a different type of design for her game which was what made it unique! Charlee added in four characters to her game which made it hard! My game had sound effects and five characters which gave you a different amount of points! and that was it! I bet we were all so sad because I could tell we all enjoyed it. It was such an amazing experience and I enjoyed it. I thought it was great having a fancy hotel hosting this event.

The 3 r's

My Recycling Poster

During the last few weeks three teachers ( Mr. Tyrell, Mr. Hadnett, and Mrs. Paton )
decided to make the students work on a Recycling poster. My group was a real disaster!  After a while of working we somehow managed to finish our poster just in time and it's fantastic, the colours are amazing, we have some information and we have some images of things that you can and can't recycle and I think we did pretty well for the first time. One thing I learned that you can recycle fruit by turning it into compost.

My Reduce Poster

This is my Reduce poster when I did this poster everyone was put into groups of 2 which kinda made it harder for me because I was with a year 4 so all that time I had to work alone but at least everything went my way. After a few minutes of talking about the poster, I managed to finish it myself, I added my own background, Found most of the information and added a bunch of images that can be reduced and because of that, I could say I'm pretty proud of what I did. One thing I learned about this was you can reduce trees being cut down

My Reuse poster

And last but not least this is my Reuse poster I also managed to finish it in time again because I did this one all by myself, I found the information, images that can be reused and also searched it. One thing that I learned is that you can reuse coffee cups.

Cleo's Woven Art Reflection

Woven Photo Portrait

  1. What did you accomplish?
My accomplishment was that I managed to finish both my small one
and large woven photo portrait

  1. Are you satisfied with your woven photo portrait? Why / Why not?
I’m not that satisfied with my woven art because I had to noses
and to mouths, maybe if I took my time I would have got it to align

  1. What did you find easy when you created your woven photo portrait?
The weaving is what I found quite easy because as soon as I got
the hang of it I just went straight in

  1. What did you find challenging when you were weaving your woven
photo portrait?

When I was doing my small woven art I found it hard at the last bit
because my strips were so small

  1. What do you need to work on?
I’m pretty sure I need to work on my patience

  1. What would you adjust to your woven photo portrait?
Probably fixing my two noses and two mouths

7. What would you do next time to improve your self-portrait?

Take my time and also fix all of those extra body parts I have

All About Me

Kia ora
My name is Cleo and I’m 9 years old (soon to be 10). I’m in Room 1. When it was the holidays I saw a bunch of cool movies like  Jumanji, Hibiscus and Ruthless and many more! I don't really need an alarm clock because my cat wakes me up at 6AM in the morning just for food. Also, my favorite animal is a cat and I’m always gentle with my cat named Isis.
