This is our Little Red Riding Hood Play. Me, Tausala, Betty, and Huia starred in this play. I was Red Riding Hood, Tausala was the Wolf, Betty was the Narrator and Huia was the Grandma. Hope you Enjoy!!

Glaciers are huge masses of ice. They flow like slow rivers.
They form from the snow that stays in one spot year-round.
It accumulates into ice and pressure turns it into grains, similar t
o sugar. Glaciers can look dusty and rocky while some can have
a marin aqua colour as if there is a light illuminating inside it. 

There are 2 types of glaciers. Alpine glaciers. Alpine glaciers
are glaciers on hills or mountains. They move downhill and have
the ability to drastically change the shape of valleys. They go from
V-shaped to U shaped whenever an Alpine glacier moves downhill.
Continental Sheets are types of glaciers that can spread across a
certain area. They could even go further.

Glaciers can be hundreds of thousands of years old. In New Zealand,
we have 2 major glaciers of our own. The Franz Josef glacier and the
Fox Glacier. You are able to hike these magnificent landforms but be
careful of the small crevasses because you can fall down them,
they have very thin ice.

10 percent of the world’s Glaciers covers the earth.
There use to be ⅓ that covered the planet but due to Global
Warming, many have melted leaving us with 10 percent left. It is
also known that glaciers hold the world’s supply of freshwater.
The Lambert glacier is the biggest glacier in the world. It's
2.5km deep. There are 100000 that are unnamed and 99 percent is
in Greenland Antartica.

Narrative Writing - Moon Princess

Once upon a time…

There were two princesses destined to become the ruler of the Moon and ruler of the Sun. Angel was first born into the Royal family. Raven was the second born. Angel is a dragon with yellow gradient wings and white scales. Raven was the complete opposite compared to her “Shining star”. Raven had black scales with blueish purple gradient wings. Angel’s eyes glistened whenever she was in the sun while Raven’s eyes shone in the moonlight. The tale of the two sisters is a complicated one, but I’m here to tell you what happened…

The past

“Raven, how many times have I told you? You must study so when our time comes, we will be ready to take the spots of our Mother and Father.” Angel said with a stern yet angelic voice. “We get it!” Raven said sarcastically. Silence filled the castle until the sound of talons clicking across the stone-cold floor pierced the silence. “Angel, Raven… Your mother and father request your presence,” said the butler. “Oh boy! I can’t wait to find out who’s going to be Queen of Sun and Queen of Moon!” 

“Most likely will be you, Raven.” Angel stared at her younger sister with a smile on her face. 

“Hope so, but I hope to be the Sun Queen.” “Whatever you say.” Angel and Raven continued walking.

Raven walked alongside Angel, soon they arrived at Queen Eclipsa and King Flare’s Throne Room. “Raven, Angel! You’re here!” Eclipsa was happy to see her daughters. “There you two are, I’m sure you both know what you’re here for. Tomorrow is the voting ceremony for both of you. Based on who the kingdoms have chosen.”. Raven was far more than excited. She had always dreamed of her standing there and the people calling her name “Raven, Raven, Raven!” She would smile as people kneeled and adored her. “Raven, Raven- Raven, RAVEN,!” The voice of her sister broke her daydream. “H-Huh? What?” “Come on we got a pre-party to attend to.” “Oh, Alright.”

Tomorrow

Angel woke up and stared at her painting, she shook her head and walked towards her sister’s room to wake her up. “Raven... are you up?”. She blinked twice and realised she had woken up earlier before her. “Hm, That’s a first.” She walked towards the waterfall room and saw Raven flying around. “Todays the day!!” She pranced in the air. “YAYYY!” Raven skipped and danced in the air. The royal dressers soon burst into the room. “W-Wait WHAT-” Angel was taken by her servants. Raven disappeared into a makeup room. They were getting ready and soon, it was time.

A megaphone played “Greetings Dragons and Dragonettes! Today we have the results for the Queens of Cypsela, also known as Queen Raven and Queen Angel. We won’t keep you waiting long, so here are our soon to be queens!” Raven and Angel walked up the stairs and stood on the cliff, the Moon Kingdom and the Sun Kingdom were separated. “And the most voted ruler for the Sun Kingdom is…” Drumrolls played… “Angel!!” The crowd of dragons went wild, they freaked out and smiled, even the Moon Kingdom was shouting. Raven clapped slowly, her face gave an envious smile as she stared at her sister. “And the Ruler of the Moon Kingdom is Raven!!” The Moon Kingdom shouted with amazement. The Sun Kingdom just stared at her, this really put Raven on the spot. Angel was given a Golden crown with white gems and one big floating sun above it. Raven was given a silver crown with blue gems and one big moon floating above it. After hours of celebration, it was time to leave, Raven was escorted by her royal guards to her palace and Angel was taken away. They had split paths.

Raven was left in her room alone. She was so envious and angry at her sister. She had known how long she dreamed of being the Sun Queen. So envious in fact, she had completely forgotten about her being the Moon Queen. “That crown was supposed to be mine. I deserve it, I have earned it.” She stormed around her room. Soon she got an idea, a dangerous idea. One that could alter her reputation for ages, but at this point, she had been swallowed by hate. Raven opened her window and put a rag over her face to cover herself. She flew outside only leaving her crown behind. 

She had arrived at the heavily guarded arena, many historical items were kept there. Raven retracted her talons and fled to the shadows. She would jump out and grab the guards. Raven snatched their tails and dragged them into the abyss. All that was left was the sound of echoing screams throughout the halls. She equipped the Moon Talons and grabbed the sceptre. These two historical items could cause as much chaos if in the wrong hands. It can grant anything you desire, and the only thing Raven desired was revenge. “The sun may plead and threaten, but the moon will stand her ground.” The world was wrapped in a dark and starry night. The moon shone brighter than usual. She had transformed into something completely different. She had fled into the night with Cypsela’s most dangerous items.

The Next Morning

The kingdom was panicking and everything had fallen apart. Dragons flew across the sky and attacked each other. There was no order what so ever. Without the Alpha Queen putting rules into place, it was a free for all arena. There was a report the royal sceptre had been stolen, along with the Moon Talons. “Who could have possibly stolen the Royal Sceptre and Moon Talons?! The place is so heavily guarded no one could break through-” “Yes, that is why my sister had stolen the crown..” Angel walked in with a worried face. “Ah! my Queen!” The Guard bowed. “Yes, I am afraid my sister has been taken by envy and hatred. Only a Queen can break through such defence.” “But what could we do to find her-” Just then Angel pulled out the Sun Crown. “I think I know what I have to do..”

Raven was found in the Moon Garden. “Raven.” Angel broke the tension in her garden. An aura was felt from Raven, an evil one. “Angel, I’ve been waiting for you!”. 

“Raven you need to stop this madness… Your kingdom is out of control.” “WHY SHOULD I? I IMAGINED ME SITTING UP THERE WITH EVERYONE ADORING ME. I WAS SUPPOSE TO BE QUEEN.” “But it wasn’t my fault! The public chose it-”. 

“I DONT CARE! THAT CROWN IS MINE, AND NOW… I’m even more powerful than the sun itself.” Silence filled the room. “Prove it.” She said with courage. “I said, prove it.” 

“With pleasure.” She flung towards her sister and struck her down.  Raven flew upwards and a spear went through her. “To easy.” Raven felt cocky. Just then Angel grabbed Raven’s hand and hurled her up. She summoned her bow and arrow and hit Raven’s head. She flew downwards and she tackled her. “Time to end this.” Once again she hurled her up and aligned her to the moon, a quick inhale instantly ended her reign. Her fire blasted Raven, the impact was so sudden that she went straight to the moon. 

“Lying there with embarrassment and pain, the sun princess had ended her reign. With nothing else to live for, she started this entire war. Once it was over, she turned to dust and she was nothing but unjust. Punishment for her trying to steal the throne, she shall be banished to the moon to die, alone...”

And that my friends is the story about the Sun Queen that banished the Moon Princess. It is known that she rests within the moon and will return on that same day to get revenge on all who fear her. She vows to dethrone her sister and claim her crown. Until then, every time you look towards the moon, you’ll remember the banished princess who’ll someday return to the world to reclaim her crown.

One Shot Wonder

This was our One Shot Wonder. In this film Toakase was suppose to catch me but instead she just stared at me!! I liked this film and how it made everyone crack up! But maybe next time instead of staring at me Kase, CATCH MEE. This is super fun to do!

My time on Jupiter

Dear Mum and Dad,

I am having a wonderful time on Jupiter. I thought it would be worse but it's pretty peaceful here… although there's a massive sandstorm a few meters away from here. It’s pretty far from the sun, around 778.5 million km away. I never knew that Jupiter was visited by Galileo in 1973. Jupiter has at least four sets of rings and is the fastest spinning planet. Jupiter’s magnetic field is also 14 times stronger than Earths. One other thing is that Jupiter has 4 main moons, Ganymede, Europa, Io, and Callisto. Jupiter had formed in 1610, which is a few centuries ago. Fun fact, Jupiter is named after the ancient greeks and after the Greek God Zeus. It’s mostly made out of hydrogen but has a slightly rocky surface, but it’s not too stable to stand on. The appearance is made out of stripes and swirls which are cold. The clouds are made out of ammonid and water. The atmosphere is hydrogen and helium.

I think that Jupiter is a lovely planet and is very interesting to live on. I hope to return soon on Christmas day with my alien friends whom I stole from Area 51, but don’t tell anyone or the military will be after me. They enjoy seeing their relatives. I will enjoy seeing you guys too.

Should a 13-year-old boy play in a Netball Team?

Yet again, another problem has occurred. Tre Ratana Sciascia loves Netball.
He had been playing this competitive sport since he was five years old.
Ever since he transferred to Fielding High School, it seems he has to give up
his special talent of playing Netball. It is so unfair that his talent has to go
down the drain all because of its an all-girls team. Sports is just a sport.
There a Rugby girls team and a Netball Boys team. I honestly do not see the
harm in letting one boy play, why not? A boy in our Basketball tournament
had turned up and they did pretty well, even better than us.

This poor boy has wanted to [lay in the Netball Team and nobody would let
him. Overall, I think for once they should bend the rules and let him play.
I think he would upgrade the team 100%! Those were my reasons on why
I think he should Join in the Netball Tournament.

Taking Flight

- Taking Flight -

My Dad was driving me to my Grandpa’s house. I was holding and hugging my teddy tight while I waited for us to arrive. After a few minutes of talking, we finally arrived at my Grandpa’s house. I was nervous when I hopped out of the car. I walked out with my bag and teddy bear. My Dad kissed me goodbye and I walked towards my Grandpa. He told me to sit on this cardboard box and I put my bear next to me. I was bored to death with nothing to do while my Grandpa mowed the lawns. From the corner of my eye, I saw a photo of my Dad and Grandpa. My Dad was sitting in a red wagon with my Grandpa. I built a little tower that I could stand on. Unfortunately, I fell down and my Grandpa stopped and immediately ran to me. He saw the red wagon and the photo next to each other. His mind was flooded with memories and thought it was a good idea to “Take flight”.

I grabbed my teddy and sat in the wagon. He was walking along the street. We had entered a huge jungle with strange-looking monkeys. They started to chase us and we sped up in our Safari truck. They kept on chasing us until we took a wrong turn and landed in a river. The Safari truck had turned into a boat. I relaxed along with my Grandpa. My teddy bear tapped my hand and we both realised we were going down a waterfall! We braced ourselves for impact. We fell down and everything seemed hopeless for a few seconds, but then… we started to ascend towards the sky. I was amazed. We flew for a while until my Grandpa noticed the fuel was running low. “Looks like we’ll have to jump!” said my Grandpa. Me and my teddy jumped off and a parachute shot from our backpacks. My Grandpa followed. 

Later on, we relaxed on the ground. “That was amazing!”.

I was filled with excitement and imagination.

“Not as bad as the aliens.”

Soon, the swing set was abducted and aliens in their UFOs were attacking us. We were in our UFO trying to escape from the space aliens. We maneuvered our way past but we were hit. As the mother ship of the aliens came towards us, I held out a blaster, ready to shoot the ship. Then the voice of my father broke through our imagination. “What’re you doing, why are you so dirty?”

The words of my father made me realise how dirty and rough me and Grandpa had been. Realising the blaster was a hose and the mother ship was my Dad’s car moving in the driveway. I and Grandpa looked at each other while Dad noticed his old wagon. “I haven’t seen that in a while..” said Dad. Soon enough I found me, my Dad and Grandpa in a big ship. “Ready to take flight?” said my father.
“Yeah!”.

I was so happy. That was one of the best days of my life!
