My ANZAC Day Hook

Should shops still be open on ANZAC Day?
By Cleo

“ANZAC Day is a memorial day. It’s another important day, similar to any other important day like Christmas. Whenever ANZAC Day is around everyone gets the chance to remember the brave men and nurses who have died or given their service, but there is one thing that separates ANZAC Day from the others. The shops can still open on ANZAC day.”

INTRODUCTION
The shops should be closed on ANZAC Day. When it’s April 25th New Zealanders are welcome to open their shops from 1:00PM onwards. There are only three days when shops can legally close which are... Good Friday, Christmas Day and Easter Sunday. Father’s, husbands and fellow mates have given up their lives to serve their country. I can’t believe people are still willing to make money.

Dawn Parades & Church Services
Did you know that the most significant time to remember the ANZACS is at dawn? This is why dawn parades and church services are a big part of ANZAC day! Sadly I wouldn’t be able to attend Church or the Dawn Parades if I was working in retail. At this time I’d
probably be too busy setting up my shop. If we closed our shops for the whole day, maybe more people would be able to attend and pay tribute to World War 1 and 2 veterans.

Different countries
Whenever it’s ANZAC day in Australia, Australians play a gambling game that involves betting on which way pennies will land on the table. That game was often played in World war 1 by many soldiers. England celebrates ANZAC Day on a different day. They celebrate ANZAC Day on November 11th. The royal family assembles outside and stands outside for 2 minutes of silence, beginning at 11:00am. Poppies have become a symbol of that day, wreaths are laid at war memorials and small artificial ones are worn on clothing.

Conclusion
Therefore I vehemently believe that all shops should be closed on ANZAC Day for all these reasons. I hope that everyone will close their shops for the whole day on ANZAC Day. If we do that everyone will be able to celebrate and unleash their ANZAC Day spirit.

“They shall not grow old, as we are left old, Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn, At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We shall remember them,
Lest we forget.”Image result for anzac day images png
