Week 1 ~ Day 2 ~ Activity 1

Forest Life!

New Zealand's wildlife sure is interesting. In New Zealand, there's this one big tree called Tane Mahuta, One of New Zealand's biggest trees. Some people also like the call "Tane Mahuta" "Lord of the forest" because of its size. Someday I'd like to visit Tane Mahuta and side underneath its cool shade, maybe even eat food under it. I hope someday you consider visiting it too!

  1. Bonjour Cleo,

You have given a clear view point and reason why you would want to visit Tāne Mahuta. You would definitely be able to catch some good shade behind Tāne Mahuta's gargantuan trunk! I could use some shade right now, it's very sunny where I am.

I wonder about whether we would be able to eat food under Tāne Mahuta, as far as I know it's a protected tree.. What do you think?

Maybe next time you could include some background information about Kauri trees. For example, how long do they take to fully grow? Where can you find Kauri in Aotearoa?

One day I would like to visit Tāne Mahuta so I can see the mighty tree up close. Tāne Mahuta has grown to be so tall and magnificent I’d love to see it in person as a picture wouldn’t do it any justice.

Hope your holidays are going well, keep up the good work.

    Toe feiloa'i fo'i,

    Cia.
